Create dmg for older OS X versions

I'm a developer and generate a dmg to distribute my application. After upgrading to High Sierra the dmg has the APFS format which is not supported on older OS X versions. Is there a way to convert this dmg to the old format?

It doesn't appear you can convert from APFS back to HFS+. You can though go the other direction; right-click on the mounted DMG in Disk Utility and choose 'Convert to APFS...'

You can still create HFS+ disk images in High Sierra using Disk Utility. You should then be able to copy the items from the APFS image to your HFS+ image.
