Can I connect a Blu-Ray / DVD Player to my iMac?

I have a relatively new iMac 27" and I want to connect a standard off-the-shelf Blu-Ray / DVD Player to it and be able to watch Blu-Ray or DVD Movies etc.

I have a HDMI to Mini-Display Adapter Cable and an open Mini-Display slot, so I can connect the Blu-Ray / DVD Player directly to the iMac.

Can anyone tell me if this will work, without me having to go out and buy some form of an adapter?

Thanks,

Greg

Mac OS does not natively support BlueRay. I strongly suggest that you contact OWC (www.macsales.com) to discuss what options you have. They specialize in Macs and help point you to what you will need. When you make contact let them know which iMac you have and what version of Mac OS you have installed and also let them know what your goals are.

You can get BlueRay discs to play however you will need third party software and possibly hardware.

Good luck.
