cant double click side button

cant double click side button

I cant seem to double click the side button on my iphone x....it just locks the home screen.

I've watched a couple videos that make it look easy, what am i missing???

Do you have Apple Pay activated? It has to be activated before you can access it that way. And, once you have it activated, you need to check in Settings to make sure that you have the switch to double-click the side button turned on.

Trying to open ApplePay. Just to double-check, am I depressing the button all the way? If i lightly tap on it nothing at all happens. If i fully depress the button twice quickly it locks the screen....

That solved the issue for me ChrisJ4203, thank you! I guess the ApplePay settings didn't transfer with the phone when I got it, that was so frustrating - thanks!

What exactly are you trying to do by double-tapping the side button? If my iPhone X is locked and I double-tap the side button, Apple Pay appears. If my iPhone is unlocked and I double-tap the side button, Apple Pay appears. If I use Face ID for authentication in the App Store, when the transaction is ready to download, I'm prompted to double-tap the side button to install, and I do that. So I'm not sure what you are trying to do.

Apple Pay will not transfer, since that would be a security issue. You need to set up your wallet and Apple Pay when using a new device.

I'm glad to hear that you got it all worked out. Enjoy your iPhone X, I know that I enjoy mine.
