iPhone X stuck in lock screen.

I just got an iPhone X running 11.1.1 and I get stuck in the lock screen some times. I have Face ID all set up.

So when I lift my phone to face me or I tap the screen I get shown the lock screen. I see the lock image change into an unlock image and swipe from the bottom up. But it gets stuck. It acts as if the face id was invalid and a swipe up was performed. The lock symbol is showing unlocked. If I try again to swipe up from bottom the Face ID symbol will appear and show that the face is correct but it will still deny entry and I am stuck in th lock screen.

The only work around i have found is to swipe to my widgets, tap edit, tap done then swipe up from the bottom AND THEN it lets me get to the home screen.

The issue doesn’t happen all the time. I’ve experienced it about 4 times and I’ve owned this phone for less then a month.

I have tried shutting down the phone and I have tried upgrading to iOS 11.2.1 but the phone eventually gets stuck.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Have you tried any troubleshooting?

  1. Restart: Press On/Off button until the Slide to Power Off slider appears, select Slide to Power Off and, after It shuts down, press the On/Off button until the Apple logo appears.
  2. Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10-15 seconds).
  3. Restore: Connect your iPhone to iTunes on your computer, backup, and then select Restore to Factory.
  4. How to erase your iOS device & then set it up as a new device or restore it from backups.

If the above doesnt work for you, then:

Follow these steps to place your iOS device into recovery mode. If your iOS device is already in recovery mode, you can proceed immediately to step 6.

1. Disconnect the USB cable from the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch and leave

one end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.

2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds

until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.

* If you cannot turn off the device using the slider, press and hold the

Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the device turns off,

release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons.

3. While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the

device. The device should turn on. Note: If you see the battery charge warning,

let the device charge for at least ten minutes, and then start with step 2 again.

4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen.

When this screen appears you can release the Home button:

5. If necessary, open iTunes. You should see the following "recovery mode" alert:

6. Use iTunes to restore the device.

If you don't see the "Connect to iTunes" screen, try these steps again. If you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen but the device does not appear in iTunes, see this article and its related links.
