Images are not loading onto a particular web page. they only show up as blue square with a question mark. I am using high sierra. I have googled, tried disabling adblocker, look at apple help articles with no results. any help gratefully received

I am accessing a website I use in which I have a project. When I open this project up, some of the images are not showing up. They are only represented by a blue square with a question mark inside. I have reviewed various apple help pages, disabled adblocker, googled for a solution, spoken with the owner of the web page and been unable to resolve the issue. I am using safari with High Sierra. Any help will be gratefully received.

Try setting up another admin user account to see if the same problem continues. If Back-to-My Mac is selected in System Preferences, the Guest account will not work. The intent is to see if it is specific to one account or a system wide problem. This account can be deleted later.

Isolating an issue by using another user account

If the problem is still there, try booting into the Safe Mode using your normal account. Disconnect all peripherals except those needed for the test. Shut down the computer and then power it back up after waiting 10 seconds. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. When you reboot normally, the initial reboot may be slower than normal. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart by using the application un-installer or by using the developer’s uninstall instructions. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don't do them all at once.

If it works in the Safe Mode, try running this program when booted normally and then copy and paste the output in a reply. The program was created by Etresoft, a frequent contributor. Please use copy and paste as screen shots can be hard to read. On the screen with Options, please open Options and check the bottom 2 boxes before running. I would uninstall Avast. It tends to interfere with the computer's operation while providing minimal to no benefit unless you work with Windows files.

Avast

Avast Un-install

I would uninstall Avira. It tends to interfere with the computer's operation while providing minimal to no benefit unless you work with Windows files.

Avira Uninstall

Most posters recommend not using cleaning programs. They can destroy normal computer operations.

Hi Eric

No, nothing works. I went through each of the suggestions & also their subset suggestions but so far no luck. A lot of what was suggested was already implemented or I had tried. I went through them all again just in case. I thought it might be to do with javascript but even that got me nowhere.

I have spoken with the website owner and he says there are no problems at his end.

I am totally baffled

In both Firefox & Sea Monkey, the pages loaded as usual but this time, instead of the boxes with the question marks appearing, there was nothing there. One of these boxes is I believe a hyperlink onto a project page.

I attach a couple of screen shots so you can see what I mean. One is the old safari page showing the boxes & the other is the Firefox result.

I have emailed the owner of the website and asked him again to look at his page & see if there is a problem. I have also asked him to screenshot me with what the page should look like when it loads correctly. As soon as I receive it I will forward to you

Hi Eric

further to your last message, I ran through the requests and still was unable to open the images,

I ran safe mode & downloaded Eltrecheck & ran it in safe mode. I was not sure if this was the correct thing to do or to run it in normal mode. However here are the results:

EtreCheck version: 3.4.6 (460)

Report generated 2018-01-03 17:51:04

Hi Again Eric

I did as requested with no luck on this particular website. I downloaded both EasyFind & Find any file.

& cleared out Avast, Avira but not sure about cleanmymac.

Rebooted to retry the website then ran Etrecheck again and the below is the result. It is saying performance below average. Any ideas as to why?

I really do appreciate the time & support you are providing me.

You are welcome. The report performance rating is based on how long it takes the Etrechck report to run. Running High Sierra with only 4 GB of RAM may be causing that.

One Avira file installed and at least one CleanMyMac, but I doubt they are the problem.

Try another browser as a test.

Hi Eric

I downloaded Firefox and retried the website. The actual page is now clean with no images or question marks appearing, so I am unable to move onto the next page at all as in these boxes was one concerning my projects & clicking on it took me into an open project.

I Then downloaded & tried sea monkey and exactly the same thing is happening. So really no further forward.

I have looked at the RAM situation and am going to upgrade the ram asap.

Images are not loading onto a particular web page. they only show up as blue square with a question mark. I am using high sierra. I have googled, tried disabling adblocker, look at apple help articles with no results. any help gratefully received
