Hello,

This is taken directly from Apple's Website:

Apple is reducing the price of an out-of-warranty iPhone battery replacement by $50 — from $79 to $29 — for anyone with an iPhone 6 or later whose battery needs to be replaced, available worldwide through December 2018. Details will be provided soon on apple.com.

It is not fear that apple is not support 5s to offer the battery replacement program as the other version just because the phone is "old". I wounder if that means the qualify of their phone is the same as the other brands. Don't forget the price for the phone are so expensive. If their life are the same as the other brands, why do we still support it? Iphone 5s should be entitled to the discounted battery replace program as the other version.

I'll just ignore the grammar issues. I make typos myself.

But anyone who knows anything about electronics understand "end of life" when it comes to support and performance. Any company is stuck either allowing the latest updates for older devices where it may have issues, or don't allow them and have people complain that they're not getting updates.

This program wasn't meant to address depleted batteries per se. It was designed around a specific issue with the latest phones where the batteries are undersized and the performance oversized. That's it.

The iPhone 5S runs the same iOS as the iPhone 6 and later. So why is the iPhone 5S not covered by the $29 battery replacement program? If anything, one would expect that 5S would be "throttled" even more given the slower CPU and older battery.

Because, as I understand it, the iPhone 5S was not slowed down when the battery got worn out. Just because the iPhone 5S has the same version number of iOS doesn't mean it has all the same features.

I also have a 5s and started having the same battery issues as the 6 & 6s users at the same time they started reporting their problems. This can hardly be a coincidence. I’m at the point where I will be upgrading soon. But it could very well be to an Android phone if I can’t even get decent customer service and a reasonably priced 5s battery just to keep me connected a few weeks while I decide which iphone to upgrade to. NOT HAPPY WITH THE WAY APPLE’ HAS HANDLED THIS WHOLE BATTERY ISSUE!!!

I also have this issue, and I'm very upset about it. The explanation that the 5s is "an old phone," and therefore overdue for replacement, is without merit. The facts are these: 1. My battery performed just fine before the latest update; and 2. My battery performs poorly after the latest update. If the age of our phones was the issue, then it's absurd to suggest that so many 5s iPhone batteries all decided to take a dump at the same time, coincidentally at the same time as the update. Sell crazy someplace else, we're all stocked up here.

They're not throttling the CPU on the 5s. If they were, Primate Labs (the developers of Geekbench that found this out) would be all over it.

More likely the performance and battery life issues are related to running a more power-hungry OS that isn't optimized for older devices.
