My daughter forgot her password for her Iphone 8. It is now requiring us to log on to itunes but when I do I receive error error 0x8000015 (Iphone could not connect - an unknown error). How can we correct this?

iTunes 12.7 or greater is required to communicate to iOS 11 devices.

Updated ... to what version specifically? If your operating system is old, it may well not support iTunes 12.7 or later.
thank you. I updated Itunes and unfortunately this didn't help. I did get the phone in restore mode (volume up, volume down) then the hold the side button, but mid way through the restore it went back to disabled. does anyone have any ideas? thanks,
