Version2 Pictures coming through on import

I usually import my photos from iphone to photos app using usb lead - however recently i have been using the live photo on the phone and selecting "make key photo" on a frame i prefer and also sometimes adding a filter.

Lately now i am noticing i am ending up with 2 pictures the same on import - one called Version2 in photos - but on my phone im not seeing 2 of the same picture? have trawled the settings and cannot understand why i am ending up with 2 the same one called version2.

Have now tested the same theory using airdrop on similar picures - then importing that image to the photos and i only get one? So looks like airdrop doesnt duplicate but importing by USB does

Anyone any ideas how i can stop these duplicates as its a pain now having to go and delete all the version 2s

Which version of iOS is running on your iPhone, and which version of MacOS X is running on your Mac?

The filters may be causing the additional versions 2, if you are running on the iPhone a version of iOS that uses different filters from the system on your Mac.

The filters changed between macOS 10.12.6 Sierra and macOS 10.13 High Sierra on the Mac and iOS 10.3 and iOS 11 on iPhones, iPads, ...

If you previously applied the older filters Chrome or Instant for example, and the iPhone is now running iOS 11, the filtered images will have to transferred as new, additional image files.

Thanks for your reply im running High Sierra 10.13.2 and iphone 6 ios 11.2.1 - both saying they are up to date. i tend to always use the Vivid filter on the iphone
