My iPhone 6S plus side switch only allows lock orientation

My iPhone 6S plus side switch only allows me to lock the orientation, how do I change this to use mute/un-mute? Also, there is no option to change the orientation in the control panel......

iPhone 6 Plus, iOS 11.2.1

You can restore an iPad backup to an iPhone and vice versa. Apps that are not compatible won't restore, but everything else will. The reason I asked is older iPads had a setting where you could change the function of the mute switch to rotation lock.

It sounds like your settings are corrupted. You can try Settings/General/Reset - reset all settings. This will scramble your Home screen layout and reset all system settings to their defaults, but you won't lose any data. Make a backup first for safety.

Afterthought: I assume your phone is not jailbroken.

So, performed a general reset and before I performed a restore the mute switch actually worked as a mute switch (change the setting an the mute icon appeared), I then performed a restore and the mute switch now only functions as a lock rotation function. Is there anything that I can do to make it go back to the mute function? I even tried just reset only the settings and that didn't change it back to the default mute button setting. I'm want to upgrade to the iPhone X but am worried that if I perform a restore the new phone might get set to only rotate instead of the mute button.

Any Ideas.
