Switch Full/Widescreen Using Remote?

On Apple TV 4th Gen with the touchpad Siri remote, I keep inadvertently changing to full screen when streaming videos through the HBO NOW app. On the iPad version of the app (also commonly seen on browser video players) there is a full/wide toggle button to the right of the progress bar while the video is playing. The icon looks like four arrows pointed outwards toward the corners. There is no such button while using the Apple TV HBO NOW app.

I'm not sure what I'm doing on the touchpad to switch to full screen but I can't figure out how to go back.

How can I change it back to widescreen using the remote? Is there a tapping/swiping pattern for switching between full and widescreen?

To adjust the zoom level, double-tap (not click) and hold your fingers on the trackpad on the Siri Remote. Then, drag your fingers up to zoom in and down to zoom out.

When using the remote, and I'm continually, clearly~ finding new things, AND it only works on shows, not for example, on my NJ12 app, if you tap lightly! in the center of the trackpad once, it goes to wide screen, tap again, it goes to zoom.

I have no ipad/phone, so remote is all I have info for:)
