2007 Macbook will not start up
2007 Macbook does not start up.
Last night my computer suddenly turned off and will not turn back on.
The light on the mag-safe power adapter (replaced in 2011) is green. From this, I infer that the laptop thinks that it is receiving A/C power.
The battery meter shows all 8 green lights lit up when pressed. From this, I infer that the laptop thinks that the battery is charged.
I have tried:
1. Removing the battery, connecting the laptop to the power adapter and pressing the power button. No sounds are made and the computer does not start. No lights come on. When I press the battery meter, the lights oscillate from left to right indicating that the laptop is searching for a battery. The light on the mag-safe power adapter remains green.
2. Leaving the battery out overnight, replacing the battery and repeating the above (connect to AC power, press power button). When I press the power button no sounds are made, no lights come on, and the computer does not start.
I recognize that this is a serious problem and that likely the battery is not the culprit. Other than taking the computer to Apple Care, which I would rather avoid since the machine is out of warantee, what options do I have?
