want to give child own apple ID but keep iTunes and App store under mine

My daughter had an old iPhone and used it with just wi-fi. The Apple ID on it was mine and all purchases were made using my ID as well. For Christmas, we bought her a SIM card and she now has a working iPhone 6. I thought it would be simple enough to give her her own Apple ID but still use mine for purchases in the App store. That hasn't worked out so well.

Whenever I try to swap the info on HER phone, it ends up changing the info on mine as well. We created her own iCloud account and she has her own gmail account as well. We went to the settings/Name, Phone numbers, email/ and then updated the Apple ID under the "reachable at" setting with her info. Then, visiting settings/iTunes & App store, my Apple ID info is entered.

I thought I was done here, but when I go to my iPhone 8, I am all of the sudden logged in with her Apple ID info.

Anybody have any idea where I'm going wrong?

Thank you both for your reply. I did go thru the Family sharing write-up previously, but still was having problems. Yes, Family Sharing is the way to do it. Where I was going wrong was frustratingly simple- I didn't scroll far enough down! Now, I may just be stupid- but, in case anyone else runs into this, here's the solution. I incorrectly kept trying to change the Apple ID in the "name, phone numbers, email" section or in the "iTunes & App Store" section. That's where I ran into my problems. I should have kept scrolling down until I reached the red "sign out" area and typed in my kid's apple ID there. Once I did that my child (under age 13) was added to Family Sharing with their own Apple ID.

thanks again Lawrence and Eric for taking the time to reply!
