Activation Lock Problem

If you purchased the device second-hand, then it is useless without the Apple ID and password to which it is locked. If you don't have it, can't remember it or cannot get it, then the device is useless to you. Try to get your money refunded, if you can, or take it to an Apple store for an exchange provided they will help you. If you are the original owner then take the device, a copy of your purchase receipt and identity proof to an Apple retailer where they may be able to assist you.

Hi

You appear to be describing Activation Lock, which prevents unauthorised use of Apple Watch if it is lost or stolen.

The previous owner's lock should have been removed before the watch was re-sold..

If you purchased the refurbished Apple Watch from Apple or an Apple Authorised Reseller, then:

Contact Apple Support or make a Genius Bar reservation for assistance, being sure to have your proof of purchase to hand:

If you purchased the Apple Watch elsewhere, then:

  • To be able to pair the Apple Watch to your own iPhone, you would need the previous owner (who may not be the seller) to either enter their Apple ID and password on your iPhone or to turn the feature off via https://www.icloud.com/(by signing in with their Apple ID > Find My iPhone > All Devices, then select the Apple Watch > Erase Apple Watch > Next until erased > click X next to the watch).
  • If you cannot arrange for the previous owner to do this, then you should, if possible, return the Apple Watch for a refund.
  • You will not otherwise be able to use the Apple Watch. There is no way around this security feature.
  • Apple will not advise you of the previous owner's contact details, nor will Apple pass your details on to them.
