itunes install error HRESULT: 0x80073715.

Jan. 3, 2018

iTunes 12.7.2 will not install under Windows 10 V1703 with 2017-12 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1703 for x64-based Systems (KB4053580) installed.

The following error is generated:

'Microsoft.VC80.CRT,type="win32",version="8.0.50727.6195",publicKeyToken="1fc8b3 b9a1e18e3b".processorArchitecture="amd64"'.
Please refer to Help and Support for more information. HRESULT:0x80073715.

All recommended fixes have been implemented including:

https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204275

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=26347 &

http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-windows_install/unab le-to-install-itune-error-hresult0x80073715/a828f026-1609-4894-9de5-7246e42fd5c3

None were successful in correcting the problem.

Prior to installation of the above MS updates to W10 V1703, iTunes V12.7.2.nn successfully ran on this system. After the 12/12/2017 MS updates to both W10 V1703 and MS Office 2010 iTunes no longer worked and all attempts to reinstall it have failed.

This leads one to believe there is an incompatibility between iTunes current V12.7.2 installation package and the
latest W10 Updates.

Any NEW solutions out there??

iPhone 6s, iOS 11.2.1, W-10 V1703 + iTunes V12.7.2

Have you tried the steps in the "VC80 errors" of turingtest2's guide at:

Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates

Specifically:

The message "An error occurred during installation of assembly 'Microsoft.VC80.CRT, type="win32", version="8.0.50727.6195", publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b", processorArchitrcture=..." may occur because a particular library file is not included in the distribution package supplied with iTunes or won't install for some unspecified reason. Installing the Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Service Pack 1 Redistributable Package MFC Security Update before attempting to reinstall iTunes may help.

There are three files to choose from so you need to select the one that matches the processor architecture of your system, which should be noted in the error message.

  • vcredist_x86.EXE - 32-bit systems
  • vcredist_IA64.EXE - Itanium processors
  • vcredist_x64.EXE - other 64-bit systems

I tried all those implemented fixes but din't work for me , I tried different versions , older versions , the only one I could Install was 12.4.3 but I can't sync the phone , I look in you tube just about everywhere, but nothing work for me , I really didn't want to go to the whole process but I went back to windows built 1151 installed the new I tunes and by the time I was done re installing apps , windows was already working to update to 1709 built , so in my case I discover that by having I tunes 12.7.3 installed before windows gets updated to the last built was what worked for me , so from now own I will make sure I get all my apps updated before I agree to a future windows built.
