Has anyone found that handoff for iPhone X is basically not usable? There is no longer an icon on the lock screen to show handoff is available but only from the bottom of the multi-tasking window. The handoff seems to work best between my Watch (series 1) and MacBook (running High Sierra). Seems like a big miss to me for iPhone X.

Turns out it is a design problem. You can't access the app switcher if no apps are running. So handoff isn't available. Needs to go back to the lock screen. Also grouping notifications by app needs to return from iOS 9!
sure but on other iPhones you do. It isn't a feature that relies on touch ID so maybe this is something that can be reintroduced in a later version of iOS (later than 11.2.1).
Here is the page that talks about handoff. It does not mention that you would get a lock screen notification. Use Continuity to connect your Mac, iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, and Apple Watch - Apple Support
I just tried it and it worked perfectly.
Do you get a lock screen notification that handoff is available? I don't find the lack of notification useable.
