locked out of my ipad after forgotten password

Hi...complete novice on a computer so apologies from the start.

I have a toshiba skullcandy laptop and now Santa gave me the i-pad pro for Christmas.

Forgot my login password & completely locked out from my i-pad pro.

I then downloaded all the apple things to my laptop and followed the do's and don'ts for restoring my Pro. Get a message....couldn't connect to Pro ...problem 9009 ? What to do---What to do.

Any help with an idiot learner would be greatly appreciated.

I live in France and do not use their Tech. people as it is a nightmare trying to explain anything difficult to them !

Greetings francisfullerfrogs,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. It seems like you forgot your passcode for the iPad Pro and then restored the iPad Pro. Now you cannot get the iPad Pro to connect to iTunes because you get a 9009 error. I would recommend you read this article and use it to help troubleshoot the issue.

If you see an error when you update or restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod
