Why does My MAC takes 4 minutes to boot up

Ever since I bought a MAC Air my desktop MAC takes 4 minutes to boot up.

Can anyone help me figure out why it is suddenly taking so long?

1)

Make sure System Preferences -> Startup Disk has your boot device selected, otherwise the Mac will spend time polling the network for a netbook, it will look for external disks, etc... When those devices are not connected, the Mac does not know that until it sends something out and waits for the request to timeout. It is those timeouts that can be taking a long time.

NOTE: If the System Preferences -> Startup Disk -> Padlock is locked, you will need to click on the padlock to unlock it before Startup Disk will show you what is the selected startup disk, and/or click on the desired disk to highlight it.

2)

If that is not the case, then suggest you post the EtreCheck output

<https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-6174> or <https://etrecheck.com>

Use the EtreCheck "Share" button to "Copy Report" (See the image below)

User uploaded file

And then Paste in a "Reply" to this thread.

If, AND ONLY IF, you get the error:

"The message contains invalid characters"

then try posting to PasteBin.com, and give us a PasteBin URL link.

<http://pastebin.com/>

.

EtreCheck is a tool that helps Apple Support Community volunteers debug problems without any access to the troubled computers. Debugging problems can be a difficult task even when the machine is in front of you. Attempting it via a discussion forum is extremely difficult. EtreCheck is a great help that regards.

3)

You should also try an SMC reset and an NVRAM reset

I have tried posting to your recommended site, but I could't get it to work. I hope the information here will help figure out why my IMAC takes 2 - 4 minutes to boot up.

EtreCheck version: 3.4.6 (460)

Yes, I've checked that several times. I've uninstalled the flash drive as recommended, I've tried to delete anything that may be causing a slowdown. It is soooo frustrating, because I'm not "tech savy", so when I run diagnostics, I don't really understand what the results are telling me. I have disconnected my computer, started in safe mode, I've run "first aid"..... disabled Icloud. Is it possible that adding a new Apple lap top could somehow be a problem? If so, how would I know that? Thank you so very much for your help!
