Battery continues to drain when wireless charging

I have two suggestions:

• Be certain you are using a Qi-certified charger. More information is here: How to wirelessly charge your iPhone X, iPhone 8, or iPhone 8 Plus - Apple Support
• If you are, and do not think this charger is defective, then check Settings > Battery and learn what app(s) is/are draining your battery while the charge is in progress.

If you know the make and model of the charger, you may check it out in the "Qi Certified Product Database", which is referenced in the article I attached above.

If you do not know the make or model of the charger, then it would likely flunk the Qi certification.

Do you have any apps refreshing in the background?

To check, go to Settings > General > Background App Refresh and disable any unnecessary ones and see if it starts charging regularly.
