Garageband Help Needed!!! (Can't get snapping to turn back on.)

I use GarageBand to create scores for my student films, and the films of others, and I often use the snapping feature, as I like the timing of the parts to be very precise. I turned it off to fine tune the placement of a certain region, but now every time I try to turn snapping back on, either by using the keyboard shortcut or navigating to the menu option, I get an error message which reads: Command not available because snapping is only available in Musical Grid mode. I've tried googling the error message to no avail. I also can't find any information about Musical Grid mode or how one can get back into the mode. I'm lost. Anybody got a fix? This happens to my projects a lot and seems irreversible. The message I get is visible in the top right corner of this screenshot. I posted this in reddit as well and nobody there could help me. Hope I get an answer soon because all this work will be for nothing, if my projects are irreversibly messed up.

the error is trying to tell you that you have the LCD set to show Time, it has to be set to one of the Beat displays:
