Phone numbers instead of contact names show up in texts

All of the sudden, when I get text messages, instead of showing the contact name of who sent it, it just shows their phone number. I didn't change anything or do an update. Anyone else have this problem?

Hello Udo4Accept,

Thanks for asking the Apple Support Communities for help with your iPhone Caller ID. I am happy to look at this with you.

If this only occurring in your Messages app? If so, I recommend forcing the Messages app to close: Force an app to close on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Then, restarting the device: Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch .

Test if it is working properly again. If this is also occurring with other areas of your device, such as in the Phone app, then I recommend the following steps - First, update your carrier settings. This article will help: Update your carrier settings on your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

Next, verify your Language and Region settings are correct in Settings > General > Language & Region

The last thing I recommend checking the default account your Contacts, Calendars, and Reminders are using. This article will help: Get help using iCloud Contacts, Calendars, or Reminders - Apple Support

Thanks and have a wonderful day.
