Keeping playlists when joining Family Share? (Apple Music)

I want to add a family member to my Family Sharing for Apple Music. She is currently on an individual plan and is concerned about losing her playlists when she migrates over to my Family Plan.

I'd think everything would be fine, assuming playlists are simply attached to the Apple ID, not account type. Does anyone know? Thanks.

Hey JLSELWYN,

If I understand correctly, you want to add a family member to your family group, but there is a concern that the playlists they have already created may be lost. When a playlist is created, it is associated with the Apple ID. It is why you are able to share your playlist with others. If you join a family group it provides a way to share purchased content. If you join a family group with a family membership, they can cancel the individual membership and not lose access to Apple Music.

Create and share playlists

Set up Family Sharing

Manage your Apple Music subscription on your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac, PC, or Apple TV
