The $29 battery replacement not available worldwide?

Hello,

I was pretty excited to see that the prices for iPhone 6 and later battery replacement has dropped with $50 worldwide, as stated in the official letter to iPhone customers, issued on 28 of December 2017. However I want to address an issue with the official apology letter.

My iPhone 6s is about year and a half old and since the new iOS 11.2.1 update it became nearly unusable! I tried clearing the cache, rebooting, and closing all apps, but no improvement.

Im glad Apple finally agreed that they are slowing older devices, but to this extent to render it almost unusable for vital apps, I use everyday for school or education purposes, is unacceptable. So I decided to go for a $29 battery replacement. Since I'm in Bulgaria and there is no official Apple Store, we are forced to use the non promising service of only TWO third-party service providers. Not to mention that in the Bulgarian version of the official website there is not a single trace from the official apology letter.

So I went to websites of the authorized service providers (Creative Center and Bulgram) and their price for battery replacement has dropped from 195 BGN to 65 BGN, still great improvement, but it is not $29! And yes the VAT is included in this price. So lets do a simple math... As of 5 Jan 2018 $29 = 47.09 BGN. And lets add the 20% VAT we have in Bulgaria and the total price becomes 56.4 BGN... Still not 65 BGN as the third-parties are charging for a battery replacement. Not to mention that this does not include any delivery or shipment service, and if we have to add the traveling costs, since they only have offices in Sofia and Varna for the whole country, we get way past those $29, but that is of course not the problem we are here for. It's the misleading statement that the battery replacement is $29 worldwide.

iPhone Battery and Performance

Power Mgmt for iPhone 6 through 7s batteries

A Message to Our Customers - Apple

This is an iOS 11 power management problem that will be fixed in the next release. Apple has announced a battery replacement program through Dec. 2018 to replace the battery for $29. This applies to all iPhone 6 and iPhone 7 models and later.

  • "Apple is reducing the price of an out-of-warranty iPhone battery replacement from $79 to $29 - for anyone with an iPhone 6 or later whose battery needs to be replaced, starting in late January and available worldwide through December 2018. Details will be provided soon on apple.com.
  • Early in 2018, we will issue an iOS software update with new features that give users more visibility into the health of their iPhone's battery, so they can see for themselves if its condition is affecting performance."
