Is there any way to find my Iphone through my watch if the ping isn't available? Or is there an app or something I can use to see where it is if it is ever stolen and I need to track the person via watch? For example if I go shopping and leave my phone at home but don't realize its at home the ping option isn't available.

The ping iPhone feature on Apple Watch only works when the devices are connected via Bluetooth:

If you cannot locate your iPhone and it is not connected to your Apple Watch via Bluetooth, then - with Find My iPhone enabled - you may be able to make it play a sound via iCloud.com:
