It was working fine last week, but now only the audio is being streamed while the video plays on the iPhone. I’ve restarted the ATV but get the same problem.
Hi. This depends on the app you're using and how you use it.
For example, Netflix will not AirPlay downloaded videos. This is determined by the Netflix app.
Which app are you using?
Are you streaming from the internet, or downloaded content?
Hi AmyFeets. Both ways of enabling basic AirPlay (not mirroring) work the same. In this mode, the video URL is sent to Apple TV, which streams directly from the server. Some servers will not do this; maybe they need a cookie or something. Are you able to stream something generic, like vimeo.com? If so, then your problem is site-specific. Maybe the provider made a change that causes this.

I was streaming via safari
I’ve just noticed something. Before I used to airplay via the control centre. I’ve just pressed play on a video in safari and noticed that there’s an airplay icon next to the play button. I’ve pressed that but it still only streams audio.
Developers can choose to block airplay at any time, and if it's a glitch it is up to them to fix it.
Mirroring works but it isn’t smooth. Picture and sound stutters.
Does that mean that Apple have blocked airplay? Why would they do that?
It would be something the developer did, not Apple.
