Connect iPhone to monitor question

I would like to be able to connect my iPhone 7Plus to a monitor to watch movies when away from home.

I was looking at portable monitors with a USB connector and was hopeful this is all I need to watch Netflix on a monitor larger than my iPhone screen.

You need a monitor with VGA and/or HDMI input.

Then you need a cable adapter: About Apple Digital AV Adapters for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support

The only way to mirror the iPhone display to a monitor appears to be via cables (as detailed above) or using the Apple TV box (which also requires plugging into the monitor). Not sure on costs but Briansyddall idea regarding one of the "cheapest" iPad's might not be such a bad option especially when compared to what the other two options might add up to (and it's got to be easier to lug around!).
