Ipad stuck in Apple logo loop

My sons 3month old Ipad will not power up and stuck in this loop. We have tried rebooting using the home and off switch, but even if switched off to the unlit black screen & plugged into our Apple walk charger (This works to charge our iPhones) it cycle recommences.

Place your Device into DFU Mode

Follow these steps to place your iOS device into recovery mode. If your iOS device is already in recovery mode, you can proceed immediately to step 6.

1. Disconnect the USB cable from the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch and leave

one end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.

2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds

until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.

* If you cannot turn off the device using the slider, press and hold the

Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the device turns off,

release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons.

3. While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the

device. The device should turn on. Note: If you see the battery charge warning,

let the device charge for at least ten minutes, and then start with step 2 again.

4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen.

When this screen appears you can release the Home button:

5. If necessary, open iTunes. You should see the following "recovery mode" alert:

6. Use iTunes to restore the device.

If you don't see the "Connect to iTunes" screen, try these steps again. If you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen but the device does not appear in iTunes, see this article and its related links.

I followed your instructions, whilst I awaited your feed back. I did indeed get the connect to iTunes screen. I left the iPad to charge for 10 mins. I entered support.apple.com/Ipad/restore into my iphone browser, followed the instructions to reboot (Home & on/off button) till Apple logo appeared & im back in the loop that was the original issue! 😫

Hi Kappy, just to confirm, this Ipad wasn’t set up using iTunes as it’s for school work. It’s been unused for the two week UK Christmas school break, so I believe the battery has just been totally depleted?! Would I still need to use iTunes to reset this?

Yes. However, if the battery became depleted to zero it is possible that it may not recharge. This sometimes happens with Li-ION batteries. Have you tried connecting it to the charger for about 6-8 hours? If the battery cannot be charged then it will have to be replaced at an Apple shop.

We’ve only popped it on charge for an hour or so...my son needed it to do homework he’s had for 2 weeks that’s due in on his first day back! So will leave it well alone and see if it will charge. Should it be left overnight if need be? Or is there an optimum time? Thank you so much for your help! Much appreciated.
