Have you tried turning off watch and phone. Then turn on phone first followed by watch. If that works forget the rest of this post.

If that doesn’t work try a factory reset of AirPods. With pods in case and lid open press button on back for about 5 seconds until light flashes 3 times. Then re connect to iPhone specifically. That should propagate info through icloud to your other devices. If you connected AirPods originally through iPad or Mac or Apple TV rather than iPhone I think that may be a problem. I know it shouldn’t be but my gut feel tells me that might be it.

Have you got music loaded from phone onto your watch. If so turn off your phone and try music on watch. I don’t have Apple Music so I can’t check that out.

good luck

Have you connected AirPods to a non Apple BT device? That can cause problems.

Even if you have not I suggest you do this.

On iPhone disconnect AirPods, I usually do ‘forget this device’. Then re-pair AirPods to iPhone. This registers AirPods with all my Apple devices.

AirPods need to be in ear when connecting.

This has always worked for me.

Thanks for the suggestion. I just tried that (unpairing and paring again) but it’s still not working. And yes, the AirPods are in my ears when I try it.

The AirPods work fine with my iPhone, iPad, iMac, and Apple TV. But I can’t get it to work with my Apple Watch.

Do you have any other suggestions?
