Pages Documents not opening.

I had the same problem as others have had in the past. However I found the answer by accident. When trying to open the document and it will not open because the file is missing an extension, go to the top of the page and locate the icon that looks like "settings." Once the icon is located click on the icon and you can select the default pages version to open the document. Hope that helps someone.
