IPhone X AirPlay won’t disconnect from Apple TV

My iPhone X will not disconnect from Airplay Apple TV. When I swipe down to the Command menu, I see the blue lines that confirm I am airplaying. I then 3D press to toggle from my Apple TV to my iPhone, but it won’t toggle. No matter what device I pick (I have two Apple TVs), the check mark is on the iPhone even though it says at the top left that I am airplaying to my Apple TV. And the blue lines still show that I am airplaying. The only way to disconnect is to turn off WiFi. Is this a bug?

Hello appcupstraw,

Thanks for asking the Apple Support Communities for help stopping AirPlay. I am happy to check this out with you.

I first recommend trying to restart your iPhone: Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

After your device comes back up, try AirPlay sharing again. Use AirPlay or Screen Mirroring on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Then, try turning it off once again:

Turn off AirPlay or Screen Mirroring

  1. Open the app that's using AirPlay.
  2. Tap User uploaded file or User uploaded file. To stop mirroring your iOS device, open Control Center and tap Screen Mirroring.
  3. Tap your iOS device from the list.

Thanks and have a wonderful day.
