Eveytime I open my internet on my iPhone 6+ I get this amazon prize winner pop up. I have my phone set to block pop ups on internet, but they come through every single time. It’s annoying and there has to be a way to stop this. Everything was cleared & I made sure my pop up blocking was on. If anyone can help it would be great. Nothing like trying to look something up and having a pop up on your iPhone get in the way.
No one has figured out how to hijack your phone. Someone has hijacked a website you visited. Do the following:
This should clear the message. And don't go back to whatever website you were on the first time it happened.
Go to Settings > Safari > Clear History and Website Data.
I too have been having this problem recently. Usually with Cracked.com. I have cleared both my browser history and cookies multiple times, that “solution” doesn’t work. The pop up still happens
I got my first iPhone for Xmas. I noticed this problem right away. I have done everything support keeps saying to clear it. It is constant. Every page it happens on. About to go back to Android.
This does not stop the problem at all!
You have to turn off Java support.
1. Apple isn't here reading posts in this user-to-user forum
2. Apple can't fix websites infected with malware. The only fix is to not visit them.
Yes, Apple might be able to patch it. But next week there will be a variant that will bypass the patch. The only real approach is to not visit infected websites.
Only have this problem when going to Allrecipes web site. Thurned off java and issue went away although I had to turn it back on to reply to this thread!
Well, it's not a virus, it is simply a very annoying ad. I've gotten it from other websites.
goto setting safari and turn off java. that works. I can turn mine back on and it will go awhile before it does it again. WHenever I get the amazon pop up i turn of java for awhile and restart
Read the last 4 pages or so of the thread your fix is there. Apple is not going to help you and turning JavaScript off only works temporarily.
That's a good approach, and one I think I've mentioned. The ad doesn't become persistent unless you click or tap anywhere on the displayed "popup", including (or especially) the "close" button.
It will only work until you visit a site with the same JavaScript popup. This problem involves every single OS and browser.
