Are you absolutely certain that is a supported configuration? The segmentation fault is a memory failure. Macs are completely intolerant of anything other than RAM that meets Apple's stringent specifications. To learn how to install memory on your Mac please refer to the Memory Upgrade Instructions in About This Mac > Memory.
It is not possible to test memory for specification compliance using the Mac on which it's installed. If in doubt remove all aftermarket RAM and replace / leave in place only that Mac's originally installed RAM.
