AudioBox USB not working with MacBook Pro 2016

Hi. My Macbook pro 2016 isnt working with my PreSonus AudioBox. I have recently switched to mac from PC to so i could use Logic Pro X. I use a presonus audiobox for my recording and as an interface. on my PC it always worked a treat. when i got my macbook i was eager to plug in my audio interface so i could record some music however i needed to buy a adaptor so i could plug it into the usb c thunderbolt inputs on the mac.

my mac would struggle to recognise this (it would appear in my system and preferances and then disappear and then reapear and so on) which i was expecting as interfaces stuggle to run through adaptors and hubs etc. so i bought a cable which would let my interface run straight into the usb c import and the same proble persists. im not sure what i can do.
