Watching a video today.
The image began to shudder then turned to green only screen.
I went to a folder of videos and ALL the videos have turned to green screen.
I went online and video everywhere has turned to green screen.
Everything was fine before this happened.
Apple Support via Chat gave the solution which was to restart the iMac thus resetting the System Management Controller. They also left instructions for resetting the NVRAM but that doesn't seem to be necessary.

By chance do you have any antivirus, cleaning or any other third party maintenance apps installed?
Thank you for replying. No, I do not. Was told Apple's use of the Unix System (or whatever it is) made antivirus software unnecessary. I keep updates current though.
