How can I recycle my old MacBook pro at apple store?

If I want to recycle my old MacBook pro in apple store, how long does it take the stuff to evaluate my product and give me an approximate credit towards purchasing a new computer? Do I need to bring anything with me? Thx guys!

Hi, Sally!

Thanks for getting back to us. We're sorry for any confusion about the Renew & Recycle program, but would be happy to clarify the process.

While it's understandable that you need to get a new Mac as soon as you can, the only devices available for in-store assessment at this time are iPhone devices. Other devices, such as your Mac, must be mailed in for assessment and to receive any credit toward another purchase. As mentioned before, you can start that process here: Renew and Recycling - Apple .

What you can do in an Apple Store is turn your computer in for responsible recycling. The store will be happy to take the computer, but would not do the assessment or offer credit toward a new purchase.

If you have any additional questions or concerns about the Renew & Recycle program that is not answered by the above link, you're welcome to get in touch with Apple Support directly, which you can do here: Contact Apple Support.

Have a great day.

Hey there, Sally!

Congratulations on the decision to purchase a new computer! I see from your post that you'd like to try recycling your old MacBook Pro, in the hopes you would be able to earn an Apple gift card you could put toward that new computer. Your specific question, if I understand, is how that process is done in-store, how long it takes, and what (if anything) you need to have with you. I'd be happy to provide you with some information on how you can get this done!

While you're welcome to take the computer in to an Apple Store to have it recycled responsibly, only iPhone devices are assessed for credit in-store. You can send your computer in for an assessment to determine how much, if any, credit the computer qualifies for, and will receive any gift cards through the mail.

You can get more information, and an instant quote, here: Renew and Recycling - Apple . If you accept the quote, you'll receive a box within 3-5 business days to send your MacBook Pro in (which takes another 3-5 business days). After your computer is received, inspection will occur and you will receive your credit within 5-8 days. You will be notified via email if there are any unexpected findings (such as a mismatch in your model, or change to your quote based on the computer's assessed condition).

Before you send your computer in, I would encourage you to follow the steps here, which will help you remove your accounts and data: What to do before you sell or give away your Mac - Apple Support .

Cheers!

Hi!

Thank you so much for answering the question! This really means a lot to me.

I have one small question. So you mentioned that I could still bring my computer to the apple stores to assess the credits, but I may just not able to get the assessment instantly? Do you now how long does it take the store to assess my device if I bring it in? Cuz I kind of need a new one urgently, so the mailing process takes a bit too long.

Thank you so much!!!!
