Split View not working

I have a mac book air and the split view option is not working. Several other people had the same concern and said to go to System Preferences>mission control, check the box that says Displays have Separate Spaces, and then log out. I have done this several times, yet it is not working out.

Any suggestions?

As you have posted in the Yosemite section of Discussions I have to assume your operating system is Yosemite, and I don't think split view was an option in Yosemite. I'm pretty sure it was introduced in Mac OS X El Capitan (10.11)

Also please note that not all apps can be used in split view, it is up to the developers of the software to supply that functionality.
