error code -36

Using my MacOS High Sierra, I tried to move photos from my SanDisc 32GB card to a folder on my External Drive (My Book) using Finder, I get error code -36. I've tried the dot_clean, didn't work. Ive had this problem several times recently. I'd like to know what's causing it, as well as how to get to my photos.
