Why can you not report airpods stolen?

As I have recently and unfortunately discovered, it is very easy for someone to steal airpods.

I was at a Starbucks and got up to get a coffee. I noticed later my airpods were stolen.

Of course the find my iphone app shows last known location, but it seems like there's no way to mark the device stolen. It would be great if so, because that would reduce how easy they are to steal and just connect to another device.

For a product this expensive, Apple should make it harder for people to steal the device and resell.
