iMac 21.5 inch mid 2011 running slow, help!

Hello,

I have an iMac 21.5 inch mid 2011 and it's running very slow since I updated the mac to High Sierra. I don't know, what's the issue? I don't know how to improve my mac, I'm not into those type of things. How can I improve the performance of my mac?

Could someone help please?

Thank you very much!!!

You have 2 major issues with your iMac.

First, CleanMyMac is considered malware by most experienced users, this needs to be uninstall per the devleopers instructions.

Second, when you got your iMac in 2011 4GB of RAM was a lot of RAM. However that was 7 years ago and 7 generations of Mac OS ago. Current versions of Mac OS require much more RAM. 8GB is considered the bare minimum to run current releases of Mac OS. Your computer can accommodate up to 32GB of RAM and needs to be upgraded to 8GB or more. I strongly recommend that you do this using either Crucial RAM or OWC (www.macsales.com), the reason for recommending these companies if iMacs are sensitive to using quality RM and both vendor supply quality products at reasonable prices.

Mac OS does not require ANY antivirus, cleaning or ANY third party "maintenance" applications, if simply kept up to date and otherwise left alone most users experience years of trouble free service.

Good luck.
