Force Sync of Garmin Steps to Apple Health

I'm trying to get consistency in my step syncing from my Garmin Vivoactive 3 to my iPhone 6s. The Garmin syncs to the phone using the Garmin Connect (GC) app. No issues with that process. That app then syncs to the Apple Health (AH) app. Unfortunately, syncing is unpredictable and unreliable. I know when data has been received from GC because the steps under Show All Data displays the Garmin icon.

Can someone tell me if Garmin pushes the data to AH, or if AH pulls it from GC? My assumption is that AH pulls the data. If this is the case, can someone tell me what triggers the pull? Is it done on a schedule, or when something else occurs? I would like to be able to force the sync and knowing the trigger is the key to that.

I am currently running ios 11.2.2 and GC V 4.2.0.25. This issue has been ongoing since I started to syncing the two in the summer of 2017. In the AH app, GC is the first Data source that is allowed to update data to it. Thank you for any help that you can provide.

Hi Loveboater

I've a Garmin Forerunner 235 and I've exactly the same problem as yours. It seems no way to let Apple Health to sync the steps from Garmin Connect in real time. The Apple Health app only reads or is pushed from Garmin Connect in the next day for the previous day's data.

I search online and apparently this problem has been pest users of Garmin wearable for years. I hope Apple and Garmin could work together to solve this issue.
