I'm trying to restore ipad for my children. They don't remember their passwords. I'm stuck at an activation code error. Any suggestions? We don't know the icloud username or password that was originally used to setup ipad.

iPad retailer showing the serial number of the iPad, make a
Genius Bar appointment at the nearest Apple store where they
may assist you.

I'm not trying tp play with semantics but if you mean the activation lock, IT IS COMPLETELY IMPOSSIBLE TO UNLCOK THE DEVICE without knowing the Apple ID and password that was used to lock the device.
i already lost the receipt way back 2014, so how any other options?
