I'm trying to edit my Apple ID here.
After logging in, when I click Edit in the Apple ID section on the Your Account Settings page, I'm taken to a page that says This session has timed out for your security.
Any idea as to what the deal is?

I've been having this issue my self using iMac. I tried using my iPhone using the Apple id web site did not work. Then I turned off the wifi on my phone. Tried the Apple id web site again and it worked was able to access the site no problem. If this works let us know.
That second page does not look like the legitimate Apple ID page. What URL are you using to go to the initial site?

If necessary, there is a contact link.
Apple Support by e-mail or chat Select your device, Battery, Power and Charging, then Power adapter not working to get a chat option. If you need to talk to them, ask them if they will do a Skype or FaceTime with you.
Or fill out and submit this form.
Try signing in again in settings and change password. Then go to apple and start new session. Hope that helps

The URL of that page is https://appleid.apple.com/#!&page=signin
It is legitimate, as you can see. The first page shows my correct account info when I log in.

Try signing in again in settings and change password.
The reason for wanting to change the ID in the first place is because the email address currently associated with the account is an old work email. (In retrospect, registering with it was silly as I no longer work there and that email address has been inactive for years).
If I hit Forgot Apple ID or password? I'm concerned that it will shoot the password reset link to that old, likely dead, email account.
I tried the URL you provided, and it didn't go anywhere when I typed in the security code. I would recommend that you try the this URL instead: Apple - My Apple ID
