highlighting text for comments from .docx

I created a file in Pages, converted it to .docx format and sent it to a friend, who uses Microsoft Word, to review. The Pages file is in the form of a table with multiple lines of text in each cell.

When I received the file back from my friend, in the comments pane in Pages I am able to see which cell of the table the comments correspond to but not the highlighted word / set of words to which each of the comment corresponds to (which is how I would see it in a word document).

Please help!

When you open a Word .docx with a comment in it, and it is translated by Pages v6.3.1 into a .pages document, and the fact that Pages is no Word clone becomes painfully apparent when the specific changes are not selected with the yellow comment highlight. When I exported that Pages document to Word, the second sentence in the table cell read, “This is another line.”

I created the original content in Pages v6.3.1 and exported to test.docx. As I do not have Word, I opened the .docx in LibreOffice Writer 5.4.4 (Word clone), and added the revision/comment. Saved, and reopened in Pages v6.3.1.

What you have shared is a compelling reason for you to be using Word 2016 for Mac, so that you and those that edit your work are working in the same native Word document format without any translation mischief. Pages v6.3.1 only supports a fraction of Word 2013 features, and probably no unique Word 2016 features at all.
