I find the easiest first step in troubleshooting email issues is to remove the account you're having trouble with and add it back. That downloads a fresh, updated version of settings from the email provider.

Yahoo mail sometimes gets flakey. Try deleting the app, restarting your phone (this clears saved settings from the app) and reinstall it. If you have Yahoo's advanced security set up you will have to use it to log in the first time after reinstalling.

Then add back again.
