Since your phone has suffered water damage, you will have to pay for a repair/replacement. The IP67 rating is for splash and dust resistance (and note that even an increased resistance to mild water exposure is not a guarantee that nothing bad can happen). The iPhone is not rated for use as an underwater device.

The iPhone X is water resistant, not waterproof. Not to mention, all of the chemicals that a swimming pool has are not good for a phone. Water damage is not covered under warranty.
Why, oh why would you take an expensive, delicate electronic device into a swimming pool?
The behaviour is consistent with damage caused by subjecting a delicate electronic device to water.
