Apple Watch Series 2 Nike 38mm (2nd Gen)
Hi
No model of Apple Watch is waterproof.
Apple advises that Apple Watch Series 2 and Series 3 models are sufficiently water resistant that they can be used, for example, when shallow water swimming. They should still not, for example, be submerged below shallow depth or exposed to high velocity water.
Apple Watch 1st generation and Series 1 models are splash and water resistant, but they should not be worn when swimming or submerged in water at any other time. The water resistance rating for 1st generation and Series 1 models means that you can, for example, wear and use your Apple Watch during exercise, in the rain and while washing your hands.
In respect of your specific question, Apple Watch Series 1 and Series 2 are both "2nd generation" models, with the Series 2 model having a higher level of water resistance than Series 1, as detailed both above and in the Apple Support resources below.
Detailed handling guidance in respect of water exposure for all models, including cleaning and drying instructions, is provided by Apple here:
Note also that leather and stainless steel bands are not water resistant.
