Move Ring Inaccurate

my move ring is almost doubled with it's tracking today vs what I average on a daily basis. My goal is set to 350 and my steps average 14,000. my steps are only at 6500 and my move (red circle) is already at 498. I typically hit my daily move goal and exceed my step goal of 12000. What's different about today?

Hi

If your Activity app and/or Workout app estimations have changed significantly for the same activity, then the following steps may help:

If you have not yet done so, update your iPhone and Apple Watch to the latest compatible software versions, starting with your iPhone:

Check your personal information:

  • Actiivity-related estimations depend, in part, on your personal information.
  • To check that this is accurate:
    • On your iPhone, in the Watch app, go to: My Watch (tab) > Health > Edit - tap and adjust items, then tap on Done.

If you have ever previously used any third-party fitness tracking, sleep tracking and/or heart rate monitoring apps:

  • Check the developers' support resources and/or contact the developers to check for any known issues affecting how data is shared to the Health app on your iPhone.
  • Check whether there is an active or paused session within any of them.
    • If there is, then end that session from within that app on your Apple Watch.
    • If in doubt, it may help to remove any such third-party apps from your Apple Watch, at least temporarily.

Close certain apps and restart both your iPhone and your Apple Watch (normally):

For more accurate tracking of outdoor workouts and to enable proper calibration, check your Location Services settings:

  • On your iPhone, go to: Settings > Privacy > Location Services.
  • Check that Location Services (the main setting at the top) is turned on.
  • In the list of apps beneath, if the option is shown (depending on your Apple Watch model), then check that Apple Watch Workout is set to While Using.
  • Also enable options under System Services including Motion Calibration & Distance, Wi-Fi Networking and Mobile Network Search.

Reset your existing calibration data and recalibrate your Apple Watch:

For the best performance from your Apple Watch - including the most accurate readings from the heart rate sensor, which is used continually during workouts - be sure to wear your it snugly (but not too tightly) during general daily wear and during any workouts. Apple suggests tightening your Apple Watch band before workouts and loosening it again afterwards:

Check that you are allowing the arm on which you are wearing your Apple Watch to swing naturally during calibration, during relevant workouts and as you move around during daily wear:

  • During general daily wear and when using the Workout app to record workouts when GPS data is either not relevant or not available, the Activity app and Workout app track your arm motion (measured by the accelerometer) when estimating results including distance.

If the issue persists, then it may help to unpair and re-pair your Apple Watch:

If the issue still persists, then I suggest that you contact Apple Support (remote diagnostics and/or mail-in service may be available, if required), make a Genius Bar reservation or visit an Apple Authorised Service Provider for assistance:
