How many track can GarageBand record simultaneously? I have a chance at obtaining a mixing board that can output 22 tracks via USB (Soundcraft 22MTK) I would use to record our band rehearsals. I really only need about 15 tracks to cover all our needs.
I have searched hard but not found a definitive answer.

You can create a maximum of 255 Audio Tracks in GarageBand. How many you could record on simultaneously depends on your audio interface (how many audio channels) and your computers CPU and Hard Drive throughput.

How about that:
I connected GarageBand to my RME Fireface audio interface (26 input channels), created 18 Audio Tracks, each one assigned ot a different audio input channel, pressed record: Voila
Hello and thanks for your reply. Your answer of 255 audio tracks strays from my question but thank you for that info. All Is need is maybe 16.
So are you saying definitively and most definitely that GarageBand 10.2.0, beyond the shadow of a doubt and pinkly swear, will record 16 tracks simultaneously provided the hardware is up to it and that you have tried and/or seen this in action first hand and/or have concrete documentation thereof?
Just to be clear I am talking about GarageBand only and fully assuming the hardware would be up to it.
For background, the hardware (not that it matters strictly adhering to the question):
- 17" Macbook Pro 2011 i7, 16 gb ram, 500GB SSD
- Potentially Soundcraft MKT mixer that has 22 channel input
