Running Windows programs on Macs

I bought a program for $49 that turned out to be for Windows. I asked for a refund but was told that I could run the program on my Mac by using VMware Fusion, Parallels Desktop, or Virtual Box. I haven't yet been able to obtain the price of Virtual Box, but the others charge more than I am willing to pay: NOTHING. Then I thought of an Apple program whose name I have forgotten [IT'S BOOTCAMP], but I've read that it is installed in all post 2006 Macs. Well, it's not in mine.

If I can find a free translation program, I'm willing to do so, but if I can't, there's going to be a war. Any thoughts?

You cannot translate from Mac to Windows or Windows to Mac as they are totally different codebases. If there was everyone would convert their apps.

The Apple Software your thinking of is Bootcamp. This will partition part of your hard drive and allow you to boot into windows. This is included and isn't a paid for function, however you do need to own a copy of windows to make this work. Check the pre-requisite information here

How to install Windows on your Mac with Boot Camp - Apple Support

Some other software that runs I the macOS system (so windows in a window kinda thing) are Parallels Desktop (paid for), Virtualbox (Free, open source) and VMware Fusion (Paid for). For all of these you still need a copy of Windows. So regardless what one you pick, you still need the Windows disk and a valid license to run.

I have no choice, then. I've already paid too much, and I'm not going to pay more. I'm going to tell them to refund my payment. I was willing to be flexible and install something that would fix the problem, but I'm not willing to pay anything more. Wish me luck. I say this because I expect an argument. I was expecting them to just say okay, but since they instead pointed out suggested "remedies," they're obviously. not that kind of company. Thanks for the information and suggestions.
