firestick on macbook

Over the holidays I used a HP laptop & Netflix trial to show my dad but now i'm back home I have continued using the laptop only because trial ends soon and I want to use my MacBook but with Netflix I can't download.

My next choice was an Amazon Firestick. Will this work with a MacBook? I don't have a TV in the flat I use my MacBook. I grew up in Germany so the German TV & films is great on Netflix for me, that is why I enjoy Netflix but they are ignorant when I ask questions, I hear nothing so I am looking around.

Any ideas?

The fire stick acts as a video source and plugs into an HDMI port. You can not play video from the fire stick or any other HDMI video source on your MacBook. Your MacBook is not a monitor.

As previously stated, you can watch Amazon video, netflix, hulu, etc. in the browser on your MacBook. There is no need for additional hardware.

You can not plug in and use ANY video source to your MacBook. That includes the fire stick, Google Chromecast, Apple TV, Home DVD player, etc.

As for the ability to download movies, you'll have to ask Netflix. My understanding is you can download some Netflix content. Not all content is available to view offline.

I'm not sure I understand your question but you should be able to watch Netflix on your MBP using any browser. If you have an account of course.

For whatever reason, macOS is not currently supported by Netflix for content downloads.

Downloading TV shows and movies on Netflix

You can download select TV shows and movies to watch without an internet connection from the Netflix app on Apple iOS or Android mobile devices and computers or tablets running Windows 10. Downloads are not currently supported on other devices.

on the HP laptop that I use for work there is a download button but its not there on the Mac.

I was searching and many people have said you can't download films from Netflix on a Mac is this true?

Also the Apple TV is that another video source and not for MacBook?
