Late 2008 Macbook 5.1 - MagSafe DC Board Replacement

This is the situation: my almost 10 year old Late 2008 Macbook 13" (5.1) is no longer charging. Battery is ok, running swiftly with 8GB RAM and SSD replacement; motherboard seems to be ok; charger is not defective (I tried). I reset SMC - no change. No visible damage on the MagSafe connectors (both ends) that I also cleaned. I went to the Apple Store: further diagnostics did not come up with more news than the above. I shut the Mac off to keep the remaining charge.

So, best guess is that the MagSafe DC-In Board is defective and needs replacement. I want to rescue the Macbook as it is running fine and is used as the "family room computer" just fine (my work horse is a 2017 MBP 15"). I don't want to spend $100 plus for 3 rd party repair shop though. Hence, I ordered a replacement MagSafe Board for $15 online and I have the tools. I fund an iFixit instruction online. It seems I have to take the entire laptop apart to get there and then have to put it back together. Seems like at least 1-2 hrs work with some filigran connections not to be messed with.

Any guidance on this before I take the plunge?
